Do dumpster haulers need a permit in Midland?
The City of Midland requires a Garbage Hauler's Permit for any vehicle that hauls garbage inside the city and dumps it at the City landfill. The permit costs $500 per vehicle per year, runs January 1 to December 31, and the application lists roll-off trucks. Vehicles without it pay a $25 landfill access fee.
| Midland hauler permit | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Valid | January 1 to December 31 |
| Requirements | Insurance and a vehicle inspection; a decal is issued |
| Truck types listed | Includes roll-off trucks; a manifest for construction loads when applicable |
Why this matters to you: this is a rule for haulers, not for renters. You don't apply for it. The rule sits in Municipal Code Title 8, Chapter 6.

Should I rent the City of Midland's 30-yard container or a roll-off?
The City of Midland rents 30-yard open-top construction containers and bills them on your water bill. That suits a renter who wants one big box on the city account. A private roll-off adds 10, 15 and 20-yard sizes below it, a 40-yard above it, a heavy-debris option and a certified scale ticket with your bill.
| Question | City of Midland container | Stout Bros roll-off |
|---|---|---|
| Sizes | 30-yard open top | 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40-yard |
| How you pay | On the city water bill | Quote by phone, final invoice by email |
| Concrete or dirt | Ask the city | 10 or 15-yard only, filled halfway |
| Weight proof | Ask the city | Copy of the certified landfill scale ticket |
| Phone | 432-685-7278 | (432) 271-7372 |
We don't know the city's price or rental terms, so call both and compare. If a small job would rattle around in a 30-yard box, the size guide shows what each smaller bin holds.

Where does Midland debris go?
The City of Midland Landfill at 7901 E. Garden City Highway takes Midland's trash and construction debris. Commercial waste, including any paid job, must go to the landfill, not the citizens station. The landfill does not publish its gate rates, so call 432-685-3431 before you haul a load yourself.
Listed hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM to 2 PM. Another city page says Tuesday to Friday, so confirm Monday before a trip.

What goes where in Midland?
Midland splits disposal across several drop-offs, and each takes only certain items. The Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road takes furniture, mattresses, white goods and brush from city homes, Tuesday to Saturday. Tire shops, battery recyclers and a paint donation spot cover more. Construction debris goes to the landfill or a roll-off.

Can a dumpster go in a Midland alley or street?
We could not find a published rule for roll-off dumpsters in Midland streets or alleys. Call the City of Midland before placing one in the street or alley. Your own driveway sidesteps the alley question, and we put wood boards under the rails on concrete.
Alleys matter more in Midland than in many towns. City trash service and bulky pickup run in the alley right-of-way behind homes, and city trucks don't enter private property. A roll-off parked in the alley can block your neighbors' pickup.
Midland HOAs and landlords may set their own rules too. The driveway placement guide shows the room a Midland drop needs.

Midland dumpster rental questions
Does a dumpster company need a city permit to haul trash in Midland?
The City of Midland requires a Garbage Hauler's Permit for any vehicle that hauls garbage in the city and dumps it at the City landfill. The permit costs $500 per vehicle per year and lists roll-off trucks. A permitted truck carries a city decal.
Can I take remodel debris to the Smith Road citizens station?
The Citizens Collection Station at 4100 Smith Road refuses construction material, fencing, concrete, dirt, rock and tires. It is also for city residents with waste from single-family homes. Drywall, cabinets and tear-off shingles from a Midland remodel belong at the City landfill or in a roll-off. See remodeling dumpsters.
Is the Midland landfill open on Mondays?
One City of Midland page lists the landfill as open Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM to 2 PM. Another city page says Tuesday to Friday. Call the landfill at 432-685-3431 before you drive a Monday load out to 7901 E. Garden City Highway.
Will the city pick up an old couch from my alley in Midland?
The City of Midland offers free alley pickup of residential bulky items and appliances. Call 432-685-7278 to set it up. That works for a couch or a washer. A roll-off fits better when the pile is a whole garage, an estate or a remodel. See cleanout dumpsters.
Can I put concrete from a Midland patio in a dumpster?
Concrete, dirt and brick go only in our 10 or 15-yard dumpster, loaded halfway up the walls because of highway weight limits. Clean, unmixed loads can get clean-fill pricing. The Midland citizens station will not take concrete, dirt or rock. See concrete and dirt dumpsters.
