What does the Pecos landfill ban?

The Town of Pecos City landfill, at 4990 State Hwy 17, has banned concrete, asphalt, heavy rocks and brick since June 20, 2025. It also bans tires, batteries, paint, aerosol cans, propane tanks, motor oil, antifreeze, computers, asbestos and steel-reinforced concrete. Fines run from $500 to $5,000.

  • Concrete, asphalt, heavy rock and brick (since June 20, 2025)
  • Steel-reinforced concrete
  • Tires, batteries and computers
  • Paint, lead paint chips, aerosol cans and propane tanks
  • Motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze and hydraulic oil
  • Chemicals, pesticides, asbestos, medical waste and petroleum-contaminated soil

Why this matters to you: a Pecos slab tear-out, patio removal or brick job needs a plan before the dumpster arrives. Call and describe the load. We will tell you if we can take it and which size, since heavy debris goes only in the 10 or 15-yard, filled halfway. See concrete and dirt dumpsters.

Do you need a permit for a dumpster in Pecos?

We could not find a published rule for roll-off dumpsters in Pecos streets. Call Pecos City Hall before placing one in the street or alley. A Pecos driveway sidesteps the question, and wood boards under the rails protect the concrete or asphalt.

The driveway placement guide shows the room a Pecos drop needs. HOAs and landlords may add rules.

What size fits a Pecos rental turnover?

A 15-yard dumpster fits most single-unit move-outs in Pecos, and a 20-yard dumpster fits a whole-house cleanout with 3 tons included. Furniture, carpet and bagged trash fill a bin by volume before weight. Mattresses, tires and Freon appliances a tenant leaves behind go in at $50 each.

Where do we deliver in Pecos?

We deliver roll-off dumpsters across Pecos, ZIP 79772, the seat of Reeves County. Give the dispatcher the street address, a landmark and any gate code for yards and lease sites. Our driver checks in by text or call 20–30 minutes ahead, and nobody has to be home.

We plan each Pecos delivery by street address or map pin, not by neighborhood. The town landfill's rules matter if you haul anything there yourself, or if your load is disposed of locally. That is why we confirm any concrete, asphalt, rock or brick load by phone before booking.

What goes where in Pecos?

The Pecos city landfill publishes a long ban list, so check this table before you load a Pecos bin. The Town of Pecos City landfill refuses tires, batteries and paint, and since June 2025 concrete, asphalt, rock and brick too. Household trash, construction debris and brush still go there, with brush in the Type IV trench.

Pecos grew 47.1% between 2010 and 2020, to 12,916 people, and its rental vacancy rate was 17.9% in 2020. New builds and rental turnovers both make debris, so plan the load before the truck comes.

Pecos dumpster rental questions

Can I put concrete in a dumpster in Pecos?

Call before you load any concrete in Pecos. Since June 20, 2025, the Town of Pecos City landfill no longer accepts concrete, asphalt, heavy rocks or brick, and it already refused steel-reinforced concrete. We will tell you on the phone whether we can take your heavy-debris load and how it is priced. Never hide concrete under other debris.

What happens if banned items end up at the Pecos landfill?

The Town of Pecos City landfill page says fines for violations range from $500 to $5,000, depending on how serious the offense is. That is why we ask what is in your load before the truck arrives. Hazardous items, batteries and paint stay out of every bin we haul.

Does the Pecos landfill take old tires?

Tires are on the Town of Pecos City landfill's banned list, along with batteries, motor oil, antifreeze and computers. If you have tires from a Pecos cleanout, tell us when you book. In our dumpster, each automotive tire carries a $50 item fee.

Can I take my own load to the Pecos landfill on Saturday?

The Pecos landfill is open Saturdays from 8 AM to 3 PM for residents only, with the last customer at 2:30 PM. Commercial loads go Tuesday and Thursday only. Closed on holidays, and the city asks you to call ahead on bad-weather days at 432-447-9133.

Do I have to cut up old carpet before it goes in the dumpster?

The Pecos landfill page says carpet and similar flooring must be cut into 4-foot by 4-foot sections. In our dumpster, cut or rolled carpet packs tighter and leaves more room. Lay it flat in layers so the load stays level with the rim.
